SB 73 - Under current law, a person is guilty of the crime of animal neglect when failing to provide adequate care or control of an animal in his or her ownership or custody. This act requires that such failure to provide adequate care or control be done negligently and removes the requirement that an animal be substantially harmed during the commission of the crime. The act also modifies the penalty that may be imposed for violating this act. This act is identical to HB 157 (2007) and HB 1497 (2006) and similar to HB 253 (2007). ERIKA JAQUES
