SB 796 - This act directs the State Board of Education to establish a coordinated health program board by January 1, 2005. No later than January 1, 2006, the Coordinated Health Program Board shall make available to each school district in the state a coordinated health program designed to prevent obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type II diabetes in elementary and secondary students. The programs must provide for the coordination of health education, physical education and physical activity, nutrition services, and parental involvement. Each school district may participate in appropriate training for the implementation of the program and administer the program in each elementary and secondary school in the district. The State Board of Education may, in cooperation with the Department of Health and Senior Services, provide school districts with the necessary training.
