CURRENT BILL SUMMARY
SB 1144 - This act authorizes a juvenile court to issue temporary custody, visitation, and child support orders. Such temporary orders may then be transferred to a circuit court or probate court, which shall then enter a final order or judgement of custody, visitation, and child support or an order of legal guardianship. A temporary order by a juvenile court shall place the child in the temporary custody of a parents or parents, a relative or legal guardian or another appropriate person to serve as guardian of the child. Upon receipt of the matter by the circuit or probate court, the jurisdiction of the juvenile court shall cease. The temporary order shall become a final judgment of the recipient court 60 days after receipt of the matter unless a party objects or the court, on its own motion, sets the matter for hearing.
