INTRODUCED

HB 968 -- Highway Enforcement

Sponsor:  Koller

This bill establishes a Highway and Transportation Development
Commission within the Department of Economic Development.  The
commission will consist of 5 members appointed by the Governor
with the advice and consent of the Senate.

The commission will have the power to:

(1)  Study needs of highways and transportation;

(2)  Review current funding methods used for Missouri's highway
and transportation system;

(3)  Study alterative funding sources to develop or promote the
state highway and transportation system;

(4)  Hold public hearings;

(5)  Determine the need for statutory changes;

(6)  Study the interstate system and its impact upon Missouri's
economic development;

(7)  Consult with the appropriate sources to develop an economic
development plan which optimally utilizes Missouri's highway
system; and

(8)  Perform other functions required by law.
