HB 870 -- POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY SPONSOR: Ward COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Governmental Organization and Review by a vote of 9 to 2. This bill designates the third Friday of September as "POW/MIA Recognition Day." All Missourians are requested to devote a portion of the day to remember and honor the members of the armed forces of the United States who were prisoners of war and those who still may be held prisoner. The State of Missouri reaffirms its commitment to continue efforts to obtain the fullest possible accounting for every American, especially every Missourian, missing in service to the country. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill helps honor our POW/MIAs. Testifying for the bill was Representative Ward.
