INTRODUCED

HB 859 -- Lieutenant Governor

Sponsor:  Luetkenhaus

This bill requires the Governor to appoint a person to serve as
Lieutenant Governor if a vacancy occurs.  The bill also makes
changes regarding the duties of the Lieutenant Governor.  The
bill:

(1)  Allows the Lieutenant Governor to sit as a replacement
member on all boards and commissions that have vacancies for the
purpose of a quorum until a permanent replacement has been
appointed by the Governor;

(2)  Allows the Lieutenant Governor to designate an employee to
attend and participate on the Lieutenant Governor's behalf in
any function created by law for which membership is statutorily
authorized; and

(3)  Prohibits the Lieutenant Governor from working for
additional pay in any position in the executive branch.
