HB 828 -- Smoking Cessation Treatment Program

Co-Sponsors: Smith, McLuckie

This bill requires the Department of Health to establish a
smoking cessation treatment program for individuals with income
up to 300% of the federal poverty level.

The department will contract with hospitals, clinics, and
physicians to administer the program. The bill sets a fee
structure for applicants and participants and a limit on the
participant's use of the program and requires money from the
1998 tobacco settlement to be used to fund the program.

The program will expire on June 1, 2003.
