Officials using an electronic process for the creation and storage of records are required to do so in a manner guaranteeing the proper retention and integrity of the records following standards established by the State Records Commission and local records boards. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 763 -- PUBLIC RECORDS CO-SPONSORS: O'Toole, Kelly (27) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 16 to 0. This bill allows public records to be electronically created and stored. Officials using an electronic process for the creation and storage of records are required to do so in a manner guaranteeing the proper retention and integrity of the records following standards established by the State Records Commission and local records boards. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill, recognizing changes in technology, authorizes records of permanent value to be recorded and saved electronically and provides for guidelines to be established.
