HB 748 -- COMPENSATION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS IN ST. LOUIS CITY

Beginning January 1, 2000, this bill authorizes the compensation
of the sheriff, the license collector, the treasurer, and the
collector of revenue in the City of St. Louis to be annually
increased by an amount equal to the annual salary adjustment for
city employees of St. Louis as approved by the Board of Aldermen.

This bill revises provisions relating to the compensation of
certain city officials in the City of St. Louis.  Beginning
January 1, 2000, the compensation of the sheriff, the license
collector, the treasurer, and the collector of revenue may be
annually increased by an amount equal to the annual salary
adjustment for city employees of St. Louis as approved by the
Board of Alderman.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

January 1, 2000, the compensation of the sheriff, the license
collector, the treasurer, and the collector of revenue may be
annually increased by an amount equal to the annual salary
adjustment for city employees of St. Louis as approved by the
Board of Alderman.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this bill would allow certain
officials in the City of St. Louis to receive an annual increase
in compensation in an amount that is equal to the annual salary
adjustment for employees of the City of St. Louis beginning
January 1, 2000.  The increase is subject to the approval of the
St. Louis Board of Alderman.

Testifying for the bill was Representative O'Toole.
