HB 740 -- Special Elections for the General Assembly Sponsor: Hanaway This bill sets a definite deadline for the Governor to call for a special election to fill a vacancy in the General Assembly. Currently, the Governor must issue a writ of election without delay. The bill requires the Governor to call for a special election within 30 days of a legislator's resignation, notice of vacancy, or death.
