HB 725 -- School Start Date

Sponsor: Crump

Currently, school districts may not begin their school calendar
before September 1, with exceptions for the first of September
falling on Saturday, Sunday, or Labor Day; for schools in year--
round session; and for districts requiring an agricultural
production exemption. This bill changes the first exception to
permit schools to open on or after the first Monday in August
when they schedule a 4-day Labor Day holiday and eliminates the
agricultural production exemption.
