HB 720 -- Student Volunteer Opportunities

Co-Sponsors: McClelland, Hosmer

This bill requires the State Board of Education to promote the
adoption of service learning programs by school districts, to
notify districts that such programs may be included as part of
credit-earning courses for graduation, and to provide technical
assistance to districts in locating alternative financial
resources to develop or administer such programs. A grant
program using funds for statewide areas of critical need is
created to assist teachers who want training in developing such
programs, with a condition of application that the district must
have exhausted other financial resources for such training.
