HB 674 -- Minimum Teachers' Salaries

Sponsor:  Froelker

This bill increases the minimum teacher's salary from $18,000 to
$20,000 for school year 2000-2001, and increases the minimum
salary every year after that by the lesser of the consumer price
index or 3% until such salary reaches the national average for
beginning teachers.  The bill also raises the minimum salary for
a teacher with a master's degree and 10 years' teaching
experience from $24,000 to $27,000 and provides increases yearly
on the same basis as beginners' salaries.  Salaries will be
increased annually to remain at the national average.
