HB 617 -- Public Records

Co-Sponsors: O'Toole, Kelly (27)

This bill allows public records to be electronically created and
stored. Persons using an electronic process for the creation
and storage of records are required to do so in a manner
guaranteeing the proper retention and integrity of the records
following standards established by the State Records Commission
and local records boards.

The bill also creates an additional crime of tampering with a
public record: knowingly failing to deliver certain public
records to the proper public official. Tampering with a public
record is a class A misdemeanor.
