HB 612 -- Organ Donations

Sponsor:  Patek

This bill authorizes certain agreements for organ donations and
the transfer of organs to out-of-state recipients.  The
provisions of the bill:

(1)  Contain definitions relating to organ donation, the
designated organ procurement organization, and the reciprocal
agreement;

(2)  Specify the purposes and procedures regarding the donees of
gifts of bodies or anatomical parts in Missouri.  Such donees
include the Missouri State Anatomical Board, the designated
Missouri Organ Procurement Organization, authorized medical
personnel, accredited medical and dental institutions and
programs, and the authorized recipient; and

(3)  Specify the procedures regarding the use of vascular organs
and the operation of the reciprocal agreement between the
Missouri Organ Procurement Organization and an out-of-state
organ procurement organization.
