HB 559 -- Special License Plates

To retain special personalized license plates an applicant will
have to pay the regular registration fee but will not have to
pay any additional fee.  Presently, the registration fee along
with the additional fee is required every time a person obtains
or retains a special personalized license plate.

The Director of Revenue will allow special personalized license
plates to be replaced with new plates every 3 years upon payment
of the additional fee originally required.  Currently,
replacement of the plate is done with no additional fee.

The bill has an effective date of January 1, 2000.
