HB 557 -- Teacher Licensing

Co-Sponsors: Kennedy, Carter, Hilgemann, Boykins, Auer

This bill permits teachers who are certified by the National
Board for Professional Teaching Standards to be licensed on that
basis, thus adding a third category on which to base issuance of
a teacher's license to the current basis of college credit and
examination of candidates.

The bill also provides that the state's policies for licensing
teachers who are residents of other states use common standards
similar to those developed by the Interstate New Teacher
Assessment and Support Consortium.
