HB 545 -- Show-Me Scholarships

This bill establishes Show-Me Scholarships, which may be awarded
to any eligible student who has graduated from high school after
1999. To be eligible, students must have maintained certain
academic standards in high school, be a U.S. citizen and
Missouri resident, be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a
full-time student in an approved private or public institution,
and maintain a 3.0 grade point average while in college.
Scholarships for attendance at an approved public institution
are not to exceed the amount of tuition plus a $200 per semester
book and fee allowance. Scholarships for attendance at an
approved private school are not to exceed $3,000 plus a book and
fee allowance of $200. Funding for the scholarships is to be
requested in the budget for the Department of Higher Education.
The Coordinating Board for Higher Education is to administer
this scholarship program and is authorized to promulgate rules
to implement the provisions of this bill.
