FISCAL NOTE: Impact on General Revenue is Unknown in FY 2000,
FY 2001, and FY 2002.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will help address the
problems associated with the increasing number of illegal aliens
in the state, especially in the larger cities; these problems
include competition with citizens for jobs and a growing
incidence of violent crime attributable to illegal aliens.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Rizzo.

OPPONENTS: Those who oppose the bill say that employers do not
always know that the person they have hired is an illegal alien,
and so they should not be penalized for hiring someone in good
faith.

Testifying against the bill was Associated Industries of
Missouri.
