HB 473 -- PUBLIC MEETINGS (Legan) This bill requires that votes taken during an open public meeting be taken by a roll call vote. Under current law, roll call votes are only required during a closed meeting. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 473 -- PUBLIC MEETINGS CO-SPONSORS: Legan, Blunt, Elliott COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill requires that votes taken during an open public meeting be taken by a roll call vote. Under current law, roll call votes are only required during a closed meeting. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the public should be able to know exactly how members of public governmental bodies voted on particular issues, and that 3rd and 4th class cities already are required to do this.
