HB 466 -- Sex Education

Sponsor: Linton

This bill defines course material and content for public school
sex education programs for districts that offer such programs.
Course material and instruction must be age-appropriate.
Parents should be advised of course content and are permitted to
keep their children out of any or all such classes. Such
courses of instruction are required to emphasize that abstinence
from sexual intercourse is the only completely effective
protection against unwanted pregnancy. Additionally, the
criteria for instruction concerning sexual intercourse include,
in part, discussion of the emotional consequences of
preadolescent and adolescent sex, respect for monogamous
heterosexual marriage, and the laws relating to underage and
other unlawful sexual activity and financial responsibility for
children born out of wedlock.
