SPONSOR:  Pouche

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 17 to 0.

This bill prohibits the county commission from appointing to the
county board of equalization any person who serves on the
governing body of any political subdivision or any person who is
employed by any political subdivision.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the Board of Equalization must
be impartial and contain no special interest groups.  People
feel that they have no chance at an appeal.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Pouche.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
