TRULY AGREED

HB 409 -- DENTAL BUSINESSES

to act for incapacitated licensed dentists to continue to

contract with persons licensed to practice dentistry or dental
hygiene in Missouri.

PERFECTED

HB 409 -- DENTAL BUSINESSES (McBride)

of deceased or incapacitated licensed dentists to continue to
operate dental businesses for a 2 year period if they employ or
contract with persons licensed to practice dentistry in Missouri.

COMMITTEE

HB 409 -- DENTAL BUSINESSES

SPONSOR: McBride

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Public Health by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill allows surviving spouses or personal representatives
of deceased or incapacitated licensed dentists to continue to
operate dental businesses for a 2 year period if they employ or
contract with persons licensed to practice dentistry in Missouri.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that due to the fact that a license
issued to a practicing dentist does not cover a spouse, if a
dentist dies or becomes incapacitated, his or her practice can
be closed. This bill would allow a surviving spouse or a
personal representative the opportunity to operate the dental
practice for a 2 year period if they employ persons licensed to
practice dentistry in Missouri.

Testifying for the bill were Representative McBride; and
Missouri Dental Association.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.

Joseph Deering, Legislative Analyst
