BILL SUMMARIES

COMMITTEE

HB 381 -- RESTRAINT OF DOGS

SPONSOR: Schilling

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government and Related Matters by a vote of 11 to 7.

This bill allows Greene County to enact an ordinance for any
unincorporated area that is zoned residential that requires
persons owning or responsible for the control of a dog to
restrain the dog from running at large.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the subdivisions around
Springfield have a problem with dogs running loose. This often
creates problems between neighbors. The county needs the
ability to deal with the problem.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Schilling.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
