The Kansas City transportation sales tax will expire on December
31, 1999.  This bill extends the tax to December 31, 2001.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Income to General Revenue Fund of
$145,500 in FY 2000, $299,000 in FY 2001, and $154,000 in FY
2002.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this tax provides funds that
are essential for operation of the transit authority, which
serves over 50,000 riders daily.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Thompson (37);
Kansas City Area Transit Authority; and City of Kansas City.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
