COMMITTEE

HB 34 -- INSURANCE

SPONSOR: Auer

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Insurance by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill authorizes any 3 or more political subdivisions to
join together to provide, in addition to all other types of
insurance, insurance for elderly or low-income housing in which
they have an insurable interest.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that housing authorities sell homes
and maintain management contracts on homes. Housing authorities
would like to have it clearly specified in law that they can
purchase insurance for elderly or low-income housing.

Housing Authorities.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
