HB 332 -- Long Term Care Facilities

Co-Sponsors: Ladd Stokan, Kennedy

This bill contains provisions to insure that the regulations
governing long term care facilities are applied uniformly
throughout the state. To accomplish this, the Department of
Social Services is required to:

(1) Evaluate the requirements for inspectors or surveyors of
facilities, and if warranted, develop and implement additional
training and knowledge standards for them;

(2) Periodically evaluate the performance of inspectors or
surveyors to detect any inconsistencies, regionally and
statewide, in the application of facility regulations; if
suggested by the evaluation, standards and retraining for
particular regions, inspectors or surveyors, or for the state
are to be developed by the department; and

(3) In conjunction with the Department of Health, evaluate the
extent to which the regulations and standards established by the
Department of Health for certain long term care facilities
physically attached to an acute care hospital are consistent
with the intent of Chapter 198, RSMo, regulation of nursing
homes.
