HB 313 -- Primary Elections

Sponsor: Abel

Currently at primary elections, voters declare their political
party affiliation to election officials and then they receive
the ballot for that particular party. This bill allows voters
to select in secret which political party's primary they will
vote in. The bill does this by creating a single primary ballot
that lists all of the candidates for offices for all the
political parties. However, a voter cannot cross over to vote
for candidates from different political parties. The
instructions are clear that they must vote in one and only one
party's primary.
