HB 299 -- Telemarketing Practices

Sponsor:  Schwab

This bill prohibits telemarketers from preventing their
telephone numbers from appearing on a person's caller
identification system. In addition, telemarketers must cause
their names if possible to appear on the person's caller
identification system. If telemarketers do not have the
appropriate equipment to do so, they are required to install
equipment so that the word "telemarketer" appears on the caller
identification system. Violations of these provisions are a
class C misdemeanor.
