HB 27 -- Teachers' and Educational Employees' Memorial
Scholarships

Sponsor: Luetkenhaus

This bill establishes the Missouri Teachers' and Educational
Employees' Memorial Scholarship Program, to provide scholarships
for the children of Missouri teachers who died after the
effective date of this bill and who were employed as a teacher
at the time of their death. The Coordinating Board for Higher
Education will administer the scholarship program, and will make
awards to full- or part-time students to attend an approved
public or private institution of higher education in Missouri.
Employees of public school districts may elect to have $1
withheld from their paycheck to be donated to the newly created
scholarship fund used to provide the scholarships. To be
eligible to receive a scholarship, a student must be at least 17
years of age, a U.S. citizen and Missouri resident, and
demonstrate financial need.
