HB 1058 -- Spinal Cord Injury Research

Co-Sponsors:  Reinhart, Ridgeway, Kasten

This bill requires the Board of Curators of the University of
Missouri to establish regulations for the creation and
administration of a spinal cord injury research program.  The
board will request $200,000 in appropriations annually adjusted
for inflation.  The bill requires the conduct of research
projects in the state of Missouri.

The Board of Curators will appoint an advisory board to be
responsible for soliciting and selecting proposals from
investigators.  The Board of Curators, with recommendations of
the advisory board, will award funds to investigators in
accordance with the provisions of the bill.

The bill contains provisions concerning the composition of the
advisory board and procedures for the peer review of research
proposals submitted to the advisory board by investigators.
