HB 0464 (Truly Agreed) Retirees of local government may be reemployed and earn additional retirement benefits
Bill Summary
- Prepared by Senate Research -

SCS/HB 464 - This act allows a Local Government retiree to become re-employed, to make additional contributions to the Local Government Employees' Retirement System, and to earn additional retirement benefits. The retiree cannot simultaneously be paid as an employee and receive retirement benefits. When the re- employed retiree retires again with one or more years of continuous membership service, the retiree, upon request, receives an additional allowance determined by average compensation and service since re-employment only, and if the member serves less time than that specified under the final average compensation calculation (3 years or 5 years, depending on which one the political subdivision has chosen). This provision does not apply to persons retiring under total and permanent disability.

This act also removes a six-month deadline to file an application to become a member of LAGERS for certain officials who meet membership qualifications.

This act is the same as SB 410 (1999).
