FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business

DESCRIPTION

This proposal requires that orders of protection issued by another state or country be certified to be enforced in this state. The proposal also deletes the current requirement that such orders of protection be registered in Missouri, in order to make our statutes consistent with federal "full faith and credit" provisions. The current law requiring registration has the practical effect of

notifying a court-identified abuser of the victim's relocation to Missouri.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
