DESCRIPTION

This act allows county treasurers to finish their elected term when a third classification county

becomes a first classification county. Treasurers in the different classification counties are

elected on a different cycle of four year terms.

Current law already allows this for counties changing from third to second like Taney, which

will go from third to first classification in 2001. Other elected offices are already provided for by law.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
