HCS/SCS/SB 218 - This act revises the requirements for selection of governing board members for Central Missouri State University (CMSU), Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU) and any other state college or university which has a statewide mission established pursuant to Section 173.030, RSMo. For the governing board of each such institution, the act:

1) Eliminates the non-voting, out-of-state members;

2) Increases the number of members appointed from within the school's historic service region from four to five and removes the limit that no more than one of the five members may be appointed from any one county, but provides that no more than two members may be appointed from a county with a population under 200,000; and

3) Decreases the number of members appointed from outside the school's historic service region from three to two and removes the limit that no more than one of the two members appointed from outside the school's historic service region may be appointed from any one congressional district.

This act contains an emergency clause.
