Current Bill Summary

CCS/HCS/SB 196 - This act modifies disability provisions of the Kansas City Police Retirement System. Any member who has been certified by any physician on the medical board of the Kansas City Police Retirement Board to be permanently unable to perform the full and unrestricted duties of a police officer is permanently retired. Current law provides that if the member is permanently incapacitated while on duty, such member is retired.

All plans are deemed to have 5-year vesting only for the purpose of determining eligibility to transfer service credit between cooperative retirement plans.
