SB 67 - This act provides for the election of Public
Service Commissioners, with one from each of the nine
congressional districts. Members shall have a salary equal to
one and one-half times that of the General Assembly (or $43,500
per year). The Commissioners serve four-year terms, except the
first ones elected are staggered, with even-numbered districts
serving two-year terms. Currently Public Service Commissioners
are appointed and serve six-year terms. Any current commissioner
would serve until his term expires, which would overlap with the
new nine-member commission.
