Current Bill Summary

SB 38 - This act requires a public vote for the adoption of a building code in first and second classification counties. Current law requires only a vote by the county commission. Revisions to an existing building code are not subject to a public vote.

Voters in a municipality which already has a building code shall not vote on the county proposal, as it would not affect that municipality.
