FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials of the Department of Economic Development-Division of Credit Unions assume that the proposal would have no fiscal impact on their agency.

FISCAL IMPACT - State Government FY 1999 FY 2000 FY 2001

FISCAL IMPACT - Local Government FY 1999 FY 2000 FY 2001

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business

No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.

DESCRIPTION

The proposal would give the director of the division of credit unions the authority to approve applications to amend bylaws regarding credit union membership or to organize credit unions that include single or multiple groups. It would remove the statutory provision that credit unions are to be limited to groups of both large and small membership having a common bond of occupation or association or to groups residing within a well-defined neighborhood, community or rural district.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
