Interim Senate Committee on Health Insurance

The committee shall study the following issues:
  1. Whether or not employers with 50 or fewer employees (hereafter "small employers") should be allowed to obtain health insurance coverage through the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan, including but not limited to the financial consequences small employers would have on the continued viability and stability of the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan;
  2. The complaints regarding Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan recently received from several health insurance providers including but not limited to allegations of financial losses, unequal treatment and contractual disputes; and
  3. Any other issue regarding the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan the Senate Interim Committee wishes to study.

The Senate Interim Committee may solicit input and information from any group, organization and entity that it deems necessary to fulfill it's duties including the Missouri Department of Insurance and the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan.

The staff of Senate Research shall provide such legal, research, clerical, technical and bill drafting services as the Senate Interim Committee may require in the performance of it's duties. In addition, the actual and necessary expenses of the Senate Interim Committee members and legislative staff shall be paid from the Senate Contingent Fund.

On or before December 15, 1998, the Senate Interim Committee shall deliver a detailed, written report which may include recommendations and potential legislative responses, if any, to the Senate President Pro Tem.
