HB 0831 (Truly Agreed) City Engineer Not Required to be on Planning Commission Unless Chosen by City Council/Cities May Regulate Billboards
Bill Summary

HB 831 - This act allows the city engineer or similar city official to serve on the planning commission of a municipality at the option of the city council. Currently, the city engineer is required to serve as one of the commission members. The act changes the appointment method for the commissioners of the Bi- State Agency (SCA 1).

Any city that maintains a city engineer or similar official on the planning commission shall have the authority to regulate billboards placed within view of a highway. If the city elects to do so, the fee for initial inspection of the billboard may not be more than five hundred dollars and the business tax may not exceed one hundred dollars per year.
