Bill Summary

SCS/HB 816 - This act allows any county to establish an Emergency Telephone Service 911 Board.

The act also establishes an Advisory Committee for 911 Oversight in the Department of Public Safety. The 14-member committee shall assist the state in ensuring the availability, implementation and enhancement of a statewide emergency telephone number common to all jurisdictions. If requested, the Committee may provide mediation services, but shall not supersede decision making authority of local political subdivisions.
