HB 309 - This act would permit cosmetology schools to utilize instructor trainees whenever the enrollment exceeds the maximum number of students (25) allowed per instructor. Each instructor trainee would be allowed to teach up to ten additional students. One instructor is authorized to teach up to three instructor trainees.

The act also adds estheticians to those individuals who are permitted to become instructor trainees. The number of hours required to become an instructor is decreased from twelve hundred to six hundred. Other hourly requirements for an instructor trainee to become an instructor are also cut in half.

This act is similar to SB 262.
