HB 0141 (Truly Agreed) Convenience Store Safety
Bill Summary

SCS/HB 141 - This act makes various changes to the safety requirements for convenience stores.

The definition of "convenience business" is changed to include businesses in all counties. Current law only includes those businesses in first and second class counties.

By January 1, 1998, any business that has a security camera system shall have at least one camera focused on the area around the cash register. Any business shall have a silent alarm system which shall be connected to a security company or law enforcement agency or a free telephone accessible to employees by January 1, 1998. The operator of the business, rather than the owner, is responsible for these improvements.

Any person who violates the provisions of this act commits a Class C misdemeanor.
