Interim Joint Committee on Insurance

The committee shall analyze and study the following issues:
  1. The costs and benefits of applying claims estimation to receiverships in Missouri, and in particular to the Transit Casualty receivership;
  2. The costs and benefits of the United Kingdom model for insurance receiverships and the effect of the United Kingdom model on claimants, creditors, reinsurers and others affected by the receivership process;
  3. The evaluation of the costs and benefits of applying the Holland-America decision to Missouri insurance receiverships;
  4. The extent, if any, to which information concerning Missouri insurance receiverships should be kept non-public;
  5. Compliance with the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (Kennedy-Kassebaum); and
  6. Any other issues the committee desires to study.
