Current Bill Summary

SB 334 - This act makes several changes relating to the licensing of motor vehicles, drivers and boats.

REGISTRATION FEES - The act increases most of the fees that are charged by fee agent offices, to $2.00 on January 1, 1998 and to $2.50 on January 1, 2000. Branch offices of the Department of Revenue shall begin charging the same fees in 1998.

INSURABLE INTEREST - Fee agent offices are given an insurable interest in the license plates, tabs and documents they hold.

LOBBYISTS - The Department of Revenue may not prohibit its agents from employing lobbyists (SA 4).

TRUCK PLATES - The date for annual payment shall be February 28 instead of December 31.

HCA 1 - A SIGN STATING THAT THESE FEE INCREASES WERE REQUESTED BY THE FEE AGENTS SHALL BE DISPLAYED AT ALL FEE AGENT OFFICES. HA 4 - REMOVES PROVISION FOR FEES IN BRANCH OFFICES.
