Current Bill Summary

SB 262 - This act revises the requirements which must be met by schools of cosmetology and cosmetology instructor trainees. Currently a cosmetology school must have one instructor per twenty-five students. This act permits up to ten additional students to be taught with the assistance of one instructor trainee. The instructor can supervise up to three instructor trainees and thirty additional students.

The training requirements for instructor trainees is modified as follows:

Teaching principles 400 hours 200 hours Psychology 100 hours 50 hours Business methods 100 hours 50 hours Practice teaching 600 hours 300 hours

TOTAL 1,200 hours 600 hours

As in the current law, experience and education can be substituted for some of these hours.
