Current Bill Summary

SB 246 - This act establishes the State Committee for Social Workers which shall guide, advise and make recommendations to the Division of Professional Registration regarding the requirements for licensure, application for licensure procedures and renewal notice procedures.

The Committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Six members of the committee shall be licensed clinical social workers and one member shall be a public member. The term of office for the committee members shall be four years and no committee member shall serve more than ten years.

Members of the committee shall be reimbursed for necessary and actual expenses incurred in the performance of the member's official duties. Staff for the committee shall be provided by the Division of Professional Registration.

The duties of the public member shall not include the determination of the technical requirements to be met for licensure or whether any person meets the technical requirements or is of technical competence or judgment to apply for licensure or to become licensed.
