ASSUMPTION

Officials from the Office of State Courts Administrator assume the proposed
legislation would not result in any appreciable impact on the workload or the
budget of the judiciary and therefore report no fiscal impact.

Officials from the Department of Public Safety (Missouri State Highway Patrol
and Missouri State Water Patrol), the Office of Prosecution Services, the
Office of the State Public Defender, the Office of the Attorney General, and
the Missouri Sheriffs' Association assume the proposed legislation would not
have a fiscal impact on their respective budgets.

Officials from the City of Kansas City - Budget Division and the City of St.
Louis - Budget Division did not respond to our fiscal impact request.

DESCRIPTION

The proposed legislation would limit the exemptions relating to unlawful use
of weapons for law enforcement officers, wardens, superintendents and keepers
of prisons, members of the armed forces or national guard, persons whose bona
fide duty is to execute civil or criminal process, federal probation officers
and corporate security advisors. It would provide exemptions for judges and
certain law enforcement officers; however, certain limitations would apply.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
