Current Bill Summary

SB 856 - This act would change the hourly minimum wage rate to: $6.25 as of January 1, 1997 $6.50 as of January 1, 1998, and $6.75 as of January 1, 1999.

Beginning January 1, 2000, the minimum wage rate would be increased by $0.15 every January 1 thereafter.

The current minimum wage rate, $4.25 per hour, is based on the federal minimum wage requirements, which have been in effect since April, 1991.
